SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS

To get the full experience of connecting with others, we recommend using a desktop or laptop.

CAMERA, MICROPHONE & SPEAKERS — Required
OPERATING SYSTEM* — Windows & IOS (latest version only)
COMPUTER OR LAPTOP — Tablets and mobile devices are not supported
BROWSERS* — Chrome, Safari or Firefox (latest version only)
BANDWIDTH — Optimal performance will come with at least 350kb/s dedicated bandwidth

PRE-EVENT CHECKLIST

  • UPDATE YOUR OPERATING SYSTEM AND ALL SOFTWAREat least four (4) hours before your event
  • TEST YOUR SYSTEM — Ensure your system is compliant using this system tester/troubleshooter

AVATARS: Your Digital Business Card

Your avatar is your digital business card on World Event Center and when optimized adds amazing value to digital networking as it allows other guests to:

  • See where you are sitting on the floor
  • Learn who you are and what you do
  • Link to your website and social media
  • Send you private chat message
  • Book a meeting with you.

To optimize your profile, click on the circle you’ll find in the top right-hand corner of any World Event Center event with your initial in (or your profile picture if you’ve already uploaded it). Click on “Edit My Profile” and follow the prompts to fill in all the blanks and upload your photo. Be sure to click ‘save’ and this information will there every time you network with us.

  • HARD-WIRE your internet if you can rather than WIFI
  • REBOOT your computer
  • HEADPHONES are recommended but optional
  • CLOSE ALL TABS you’re not using and anything else that might be using your internet
  • CLOSE ALL MEMORY-INTENSIVE PROGRAMS (especially in Windows 10) like video apps
  • AVOID MOBILE — When possible, use your Desktop/Laptop rather than Mobile phone
  • LOCATION — Choose a quiet location and be mindful of what will appear in the background
  • LINKEDIN — Bring your LinkedIn URL to make it easy for people to connect with you
  • FACEBOOK — Bring your Facebook URL to make it easy for people to connect with you
  • PHOTO — Bring a photo of yourself that is under 1 mb
  • AVATAR — Prepare to optimize your avatar…

ARRIVE EARLY TO REGISTER/JOIN THE EVENT

  • Click on the event link the event host gives you to register or click on the click here to access the event button in your reminder e-mail 
  • Click the “SAVE ME A SPOT” button or “JOIN EVENT NOW” button if the meeting has already started
  • You’ll now be asked to LOG IN or CREATE AN ACCOUNT.
    • If you don’t already have an account, click on LOG IN and enter:
      • your name
      • email address
      • password (six characters minimum)
    • If you already have an account, click on CREATE AN ACCOUNT and:
      • enter email address
      • click the CONTINUE button
      • enter password(six characters minimum)
  • When event time arrives, the countdown stops (you might have to refresh screen)
  • Click the JOIN EVENT NOW  button
  • The system tester/troubleshooter will help you ensure your camera, mic and speakers are working and authorized
  • Click through the tutorial which will explain how to use world event center (as will the following video).

WORLD EVENT CENTER HAS TWO MODES

PRESENTATION MODE

When you enter an event that’s in presentaton mode you will see the performer’s video(s), shared screen(s) and video(s) filling your screen. Presenters will not be able see you, as guest cameras and microphone are turned off in this mode, but you will be able to RAISE YOUR HAND button at bottom of the screen to get the attention

World Event Center - Presentation Mode

You will see three tabs to the right of your screen:

  • CHAT — There are three ways you can chat:
    • GENERAL CHAT: Visible to all guests
    • TABLE CHAT: Visible to only members in your current table
    • PRIVATE CHAT: Direct message to specific guests you can search using the search bar
  • PARTICIPANTS — Click on this tab to see/search for who’s attending with you. You can click on the ‘I’ icon beside their name to learn more about them
  • Q&A — If you have questions for the presenter, click on this tab and either:
    • UPVOTE the question if someone’s already asked your question
    • ADD your question. You can do this anomymously if you’d like.

CONVERSATION MODE

This is what you’ll see when you enter in an event in conversation mode:

TURN MICROPHONE AND CAMERA ON

  •  Remember for a truly interactive experience, please turn on your mic and camera using the buttons provided in the menu on the bottom of your screen.

TURN ON CHAT

  • Click on the chat button in the menu on the bottom of your screen
  • Select one of the three chat options
    • GENERAL CHAT: Visible to all guests
    • TABLE CHAT: Visible to only members in your current table
    • PRIVATE CHAT: Direct message to specific guests you can search using the search bar

MOVING AROUND FREELY

  • You will randomly added to a table but you are free to move around as you please
  • To change tables, double click on the table you wish to join. If table is full, you’ll receive a warning to that effect.
  • You can navigate between floors using the elevator dial on the left side of your screen. Navigation only appears if there are multiple floors and you can see how many guests are on the particular floor hover your cursor over the floor button

SHARE YOUR SCREEN WITH OTHERS

  • Click on the share screen button in the menu at the bottom of your screen oppress alt + S
  • Select what you want to share your entire screen a specific application or an individual browser tab
  • Hit the blue share button

BILLBOARDS

  • The left billboard typically displays a video. Click on the play button to start playing the video and click on the maximize button to make the video full screen
  • The right billboard typically displays text e.g. an agenda. When you mouse over it, it will enlarge so you can read everything written on it.
  • If Video tiles are covering your view of the billboards you can rotate your mouse wheel or pinch your trackpad to zoom in/out alternatively you can scroll all around by clicking anywhere on the map and dragging it

LEAVING AN EVENT

To leave the event just click on quit event in the bottom toolbar.

If at any point during the event you experienced difficulties please click on the question mark icon at the bottom left corner of your screen to access FAQ and live support, or ask an Event Manager. You can identify Event Managers because they have a star on their avatar.
